In 2014, a space cloud (G2) passed the Black Hole at the center of our galaxy and, miraculously, survived the encounter. This event caused astronomers and astrophysicists to question the very identity of our galaxy’s void heart. The event also inspired an explosion of new work.

Self Portrait as Space Cloud and Black Hole Grief, 2021

The delicacy and amorphous nature of a space cloud is directly connected to my own sense of queer identity. This was my first self portrait in years. The use of mirror created a dynamic and fluctuating viewing experience as well as a direct reflection on self.
